I have used my own images for the background and then applied a texture and rose gradient with overlay effect. I have been off the computer for what feels like years. Just cut out some time to work on my art this morning. Being inspired by, what else, Harry Potter (Always) I thought I would do up this collage. I have another version of it on flicker and you can drop by and comment on which one you think is better. More of this type of theme will be in the make. I can't promise they will be of Potter world but it will be inspired by the story that has gotten myself and my children through some tough times as well as created a world that we revisit even in the best of times. Enjoy this image it was created with love for the books.

Worked in PhotoShop CS2 this image of a woman was placed over the background that I created with lanterns and a gradient with dissolve preference. I put an inner shadow on the woman along with a drop shadow to give depth. I also placed a stamp in the back ground to remove space that was left and add more action in the image. The stamp was placed with soft light in the pallet pref.

Tis the luck of the Irish and this was taken when we lived there. Near Blarney Castle this little piglet was always busy running ahead and getting into everything.

Today is a happy day.   

I have been published in the latest Somerset Digital Studio Mag.  I was so excited to receive my copy this morning.  I have been an admirer of this magazine for a while now always making a bee-line to the back of the book store to see the newest issue (only printed twice a year) culling over the pages and getting inspiration for the artist that where chosen.  I would turn to my daughter and say one day I will be in here.  One day I will open the pages and here I will be.  I  went home last year and took what I felt was an image to submit.  It had the look and feel of what the editors would choose and I submitted one image.  The rest well you can see.  

Look familiar?  It should I first blogged about this image back in May of 2010.  I was pleased with this image.  I had used an old vintage image that was offered on the Graphic Fairy and combined it with an image that I had from my photography. You can view this and more of my photography collection at Jeweledfrogs Flicker.  The process as I described in the short blurb, was a simple one and took me all of about 5 minutes.  Just positioning the image and creating the correct color and layering technique.  I wanted it to look like a memory or a clip of film caught in between frames.  The finial touch was the poem (one I composed myself)  showing up behind the two images.  This image of the woman meant  a lot to me due to the little dog.  It reminded me so much of my little terrier. 

I want to convey to you readers the importance of standing in your own truth.  Believing in your selves as creators and artist.  This image never did receive much interest when I posted it on my blog  but I knew that it had the quality that the editors at Somerset Digital Studio where looking for.  I watched the magazine and looked at the talent and made notes and then came home and applied what I had seen.  I want to encourage you all to submit your work to your favorite publication. Be vigilant and observe the trends, improve you skills and push yourselves.  You never know.  Thank you Digital Studio for all you have done for one artist.

It has been a bit since I have posted to this blog only due to lack of computer and sometimes... time. The spring approaches and with it the sounds of spring. The Frogs have already come alive in song. This image was taken along my streams edge one morning while the fog lingered as if it was left over from some ghost story told the night before.

It has been far too long that I have been doing this. That is creating some new products with my best sellers. I kept putting it off in hopes of...... well really does it matter what. No. But the fact is I have done it and I wish I was rolling in the cash I would buy one of each.
I love the way these collages work with new technology. A bit of old and a Bit of new. It creates a new medium. One where time can not be told by the look of an object.

When the black dog comes......

When days are less than what you would like them to be, and lets face it we all have those, I like to take a trip to flicker and just look at life through someone elses'  eyes.  The perspective sometimes is just enough for you to get back to the sunny side of the street.
